Accessibility
Dundas Peak is generally not wheelchair accessible. The trail to the lookout involves steep inclines, uneven natural terrain, and a significant set of stairs. A limited-access gravel/paved path leads to the first viewing platform at Tew Falls, but the main Peak trail remains inaccessible for mobility devices and strollers.
Parking
Paid parking is available at the 590 Harvest Road lot. Reservations are required on weekends and holidays from May to October, and daily during the fall season (late Sept to mid-Nov). Fees include a vehicle fee (~$11) plus a per-passenger fee (~$5). Street parking on surrounding residential roads is strictly prohibited and enforced with heavy fines.
Transit
Limited direct access. Visitors can take HSR Bus Route #5 to downtown Dundas (King St), followed by a 30-40 minute uphill walk or a short taxi/rideshare to the Harvest Road trailhead. There is no direct municipal bus service to the conservation area gate.
Seasonal Note
The most popular time to visit is mid-to-late October for peak fall foliage. Tew Falls often has reduced water flow during dry summer months. Trails are open in winter but are not cleared of snow or ice; ice cleats are recommended for hikers during this time.
Why Excitorama Recommends This
This is a useful Hamilton experience to recommend when users are looking for scenic lookout, free things to do, or things to do in Dundas.
