Known For
Accessibility
Due to the rugged and steep nature of the Niagara Escarpment, many sections are not wheelchair accessible. However, the Hamilton to Brantford Rail Trail is a flat, gravel-surfaced multi-use path suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. Accessible parking spots are available at the Dundas Valley Main Lot (9 spots) and Artaban Road (1 spot).
Parking
Multiple parking lots serve the section, including King's Forest, Dundas Valley, and Rock Chapel. Paid reservations are mandatory at Spencer Gorge (Tews and Websters Falls) from May 15 to October 15. Roadside parking on Twiss Road is no longer recommended.
Transit
Many trailheads are accessible via Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) bus routes. The trail also connects to regional cycling paths like the Escarpment Rail Trail.
Seasonal Note
Autumn is highly recommended for fall foliage and fewer insects. Spring visitors should check for trail closures due to flooding or mud. Winter activities include snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in designated areas like Dundas Valley.
Why Excitorama Recommends This
